Zodiac was founded in 1882 by Ariste Calame in Le Locle, Switzerland. The brand has traversed nearly a century and a half of watchmaking, with significant milestones such as the Sea Wolf in 1953 (one of the very first commercial diving watches) and the Astrographic in 1969 with its mysterious dial.
The calibre 72B is a robust and reliable automatic manufacture movement, representative of the golden age of Swiss watchmaking in the 1960s. The Senator line was positioned as an elegant dress watch in the Zodiac range, with the mention of “Hermetic” indicating enhanced water resistance for the time.
