One of the highly sought-after references by Speedmaster collectors: the 145.012-67 SP, known as the "Pre-Moon". This exact configuration was notably worn during Apollo XI in July 1969 for the lunar mission and during Apollo XIV in January 1971.
Its beating heart is the legendary calibre 321, a column wheel chronograph movement, considered one of the finest chronograph movements ever produced. This calibre was produced from approximately 1946 to 1968 before being replaced by the calibre 861. Omega even paid tribute to it by reintroducing it in 2019, confirming its status as a watchmaking legend.
Everything aligns on this piece. The step dial is original with its luminous indices evenly patinated to a cream hue. The hands are correct and consistent with the production period. The screw-down case back features the engraved seahorse and bears the mark of the case manufacturer Huguenin Frères (HF), a historical supplier of Omega for Speedmaster cases of this generation. Inside, the marking reads "145012-67 SP" — Omega Watch Co, Fab. Suisse, stainless steel. The watch is presented on a period riveted Gay Frères steel bracelet of very high quality, not signed Omega but perfectly suited and consistent with the period and of a nice size that can be adjusted to any wrist size.
