The PR 516 collection ("Particularly Robust", 16th model of the 5th series) was born in 1965 from the automotive world, initially in a three-hand version.
In 1968, Tissot introduced the chronograph version, designed for competitive timing: three counters, tachymetric scale, pulsometric scale, and rally countdown. A true onboard instrument for the wrist.
The black tricompax dial is immediately recognisable with its three square counters with geometric outlines: small seconds at 9 o'clock, 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock with its blue rally triangle for the countdown of the 5-minute regulations before departure, and 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock.

The inner bezel features a double tachymetric and pulsometric scale (base 15 pulses) — a complete feature usually found only on much more prestigious chronographs.
The movement is a Lemania 873 calibre, 17 jewels, manual winding, 21,600 vibrations/hour, with a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. It is the Tissot counterpart of the famous Omega 861 that equipped the Speedmaster Moonwatch — both calibres are derived from the same Lemania 27 CHRO C12 base, with chronograph switching by cam.
Movement signed "Chs Tissot & Fils — Swiss — Seventeen Jewels".
Stainless steel case signed "Chs Tissot & Fils — Stainless Steel".
Crown signed with the T Tissot, pump pushers. Screw-down case back. Drilled lugs.
Diameter 36 mm without crown, 39 mm with. Height from lug to lug 43 mm. Lug width 19 mm.
