Longines, the oldest watch brand still registered in the world, signs here a rectangular watch from the late forties, born in Switzerland and boxed in New York.
Rectangular case, 10 carat gold filled, wide folded lugs, snap back signed inside Longines Wittnauer Watch Co. Inc., New York, Geneva, Montreal, 10K Gold Filled, no. 9680752.
Outer back engraved with the initials R.K.D. and the date 12 25 48.
Polished bezel with degrees.
Satin silver dial, railway track, small seconds at six o'clock.
Numbers 12, 2, 4, 8 and 10, applied gold index points at the other hours, LONGINES signature alone below noon.
Gold hands, the hour hand openworked with a ring.
Plexi glass shaped
The date on the back is read American style, month, day, year. 12 25 48, it's Christmas 1948. It was given as a gift, and worn long enough for no one to erase these three initials, giving it a beautiful story.
Very good vintage condition. Gold fill present everywhere, no through wear, fine scratches and small usage dents on the sides and lugs. Original dial with light patina, a few spots more visible under magnification than on the wrist. Clear engraving on the back. Glass in good condition.
Width 22.5 mm without the crown, 24.5 mm with. Height 29 mm without the lugs, 37.5 mm with. Between lugs 17 mm.
In 1948 it was a men's watch, sold as such. Men's cases have grown since, it can now be worn equally by a man or a woman.
Longines Calibre 9L, manual winding, 17 jewels, 18,000 alt/h, Breguet spiral, gold chatons around the jewels, 26 x 17.8 mm. The 9L is the Longines 25.17 calibre manufactured for North American import.
Serviced in August 2026, complete disassembly and cleaning, detailed lubrication, adjustment. The watch works perfectly.
