Ebel square Art Deco - NOS - cal. 88 - 1930s/40s

Founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1911 by Eugène Blum and Alice Lévy, whose initials form the name of the house, Ebel distinguished itself early on by the finishing of its small calibres, awarded a gold medal at the National Exhibition in Bern in 1914.
This square Art Deco belongs to the lineage of the brand's dress watches.

Square chromed case with stepped sides, stainless steel back numbered 28960.
Rounded lugs, welded at the four corners.
Cream silvered dial, railway minute track bordered by a double printed frieze.
Arabic numerals at 12, 2, 4, 8 and 10, round dots for the other hours, Ebel signature below 12 o'clock.
Small seconds at 6 o'clock in a square cartouche.
Thin blackened baton hands.
Steel fluted crown.
Domed plexiglass.

Condition: new old stock (NOS), never worn. No scratches anywhere. The chrome is intact on the sides, on the lugs and on the back, the dial is practically immaculate and its prints are of perfect clarity, the glass is in superb condition. It is a pre-war watch in the condition it left the workshop.
Dimensions: diameter 22 mm excluding crown, 23 mm including crown, height 31 mm from lug to lug, lug width 12 mm.

Calibre: Ebel 88, manual winding mechanical movement, nickel-plated bridges, advance-retard regulator. No scratches or wear, only the original oils had evaporated, which is the norm for a movement that has remained stationary for decades.
The watch was therefore serviced in September 2026: complete disassembly and cleaning, detailed lubrication, adjustment. The watch works perfectly.

Brown leather strap from the period, with orange stitching, steel buckle, originally fitted and never worn.
