Calibre 342 is one of the first automatic movements manufactured by Omega, using the so-called 'bumper' system: the rotor does not make a complete turn but oscillates about 120° between two shock-absorbing springs. This system, finer than a complete rotor, allowed Omega to offer automatics in relatively flat cases as early as 1943. The 342 runs at 19,800 vibrations per hour, with Incabloc shock protection and anti-magnetic balance spring. Power reserve of approximately 42 hours.

Reference 2576 is part of the very first generation of Seamaster, launched in 1948 for Omega's centenary. The '-5' variant corresponds to the steel case with silvered dial and gold Arabic numerals. The 2576 is the small seconds version, rarer than its sister 2577 with central seconds, and highly sought after by collectors for its charm and the mechanical interest of the bumper.
