Breitling Chrono-Matic Cosmonaute in superb condition and entirely original, recently serviced in our workshop.
Diameter of 48mm offering a striking wrist presence.
The Breitling Cosmonaute was designed in the 1960s at the request of American astronaut Scott Carpenter, who wanted a watch capable of displaying time in 24-hour format — essential for orientation in space, where there is no day or night.
In 1962, Carpenter wore his Cosmonaute during the Aurora 7 mission, making this model the first Breitling to cross the atmosphere.
The Chrono-Matic version, introduced in 1969, marked another revolution: the launch of the first automatic chronograph movement with a micro-rotor, developed jointly by Breitling, Heuer, Hamilton-Buren, and Dubois-Dépraz.
